Project Independence is a Costa Mesa nonprofit, established by families in 1977, serving adults with developmental disabilities (over 700 people in Southern California). Core programs include Independent Living Services, Supported Employment and job development, a Day Program, a Senior Program, and Work Incentive Planning, plus Access to Adventure, Community Partnerships, and Healthy Living. It also runs Hire Dedication, encouraging employers to hire people with developmental disabilities, and Shop For Independence, an online store. Volunteer opportunities are listed on the site.
