Since 1983, the John Douglas French Alzheimer's Foundation's mission is to support innovative research leading to the discovery of treatments, prevention, and cures for Alzheimer's disease.
JDFAF funds Alzheimer's research often overlooked by government or pharmaceutical funders, providing seed money for novel studies. In 2020 it launched a program endowing professorships for California university researchers, paired with an annual consortium so grantees can share findings and coordinate research efforts. It is a grant-making foundation rather than a direct-service provider.
