Maternal Mental Health NOW was founded in 2007, following its founder's experience with severe postpartum depression, to ensure emotional health is a standard part of care for expectant and new parents and their families across LA County.
MMHN provides training, resources, and community support addressing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, including the My Care App, a Resource Directory, the Sana Sana peer support program, and online provider trainings. Its Black Birthworkers Community program supports Black birthworkers and addresses disproportionate maternal mental health disparities and mortality among African American families, connecting to the African American Infant and Maternal Mortality (AAIMM) Initiative and racial birth-equity work; the site also names Queer & Trans Perinatal Mental Health programming.
