Equity Through Literacy

Bridges the literacy gap for children and families in under-resourced Los Angeles-area communities by fostering parental involvement in organic reading practices and providing books and school supplies.

501(c)(3) nonprofit distributing books (15,000+ to date, PreK-12th grade) and backpacks with school supplies (~4,000) to children in high-need neighborhoods including Long Beach, Hawthorne, East LA, and Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw. During the pandemic partnered with food banks to provide 1,500+ families with food, diapers, clothing, and social-emotional workshops. Offers free printable literacy resources, a bilingual (English/Spanish) book club, and 'Lit Tips' for families.
