Claremont Homeless Advocacy Program
Claremont, CA · Los Angeles County · Human Services
To end homelessness in Claremont by advocating for and supporting homeless individuals through one-on-one volunteer mentorship and practical support toward permanent housing.
The Claremont Homeless Advocacy Program (CHAP), now a program of Inland Valley Hope Partners, pairs each homeless 'participant' with two volunteer 'advocate' mentors who provide individualized support toward securing permanent housing. CHAP meets participants' immediate needs for food and overnight shelter -- since 2014 hosted at a Quaker meeting house on Harrison Avenue, sheltering up to 12 people nightly -- while advocates help with job training, resume building, obtaining a California ID, and accessing health care.
