We use education as a tool to empower communities of color to unlock their ability to change their lives and the world around them.

Founded in 2008 and based in Inglewood, the Social Justice Learning Institute works to improve the education, health, and well-being of youth and communities of color in South Los Angeles. Programs include Urban Scholars (college prep, test prep, and field trips for teens), large-scale free produce distribution (4+ million pounds since 2020, reaching families and seniors), neighborhood/built-environment community development, and housing and youth-justice policy advocacy. SJLI anchors a coalition of tens of thousands of residents, businesses, and organizations.
